This campaign takes place across Y'rilien like Weasel's Trail will. It takes place a few years in the future. The month/week/day is set up as so: 16 months per year, 5 weeks per month, 6 days per week.
The date is currently the 11th day of the 13th month, during the year 1350 of the 5th age. Winter began about a week or two ago, and the days are getting steadily colder.
The party may consist of misfits and outcasts looking to make a good name for themselves, other assorted good-doers, and of course neutral people searching for adventure and riches.
You accepted a quest to defends the province of Merthshire, a region boxed in by mountains and mostly forested, from an emerging troll menace. You are to report to the city of Merth near the center of the region, to prove your worth and prepare.
You arrive in the region on an armored carriage, driven by a man named Ierp, who hastily drove through one of the only mountain passes that reaches Merthshire, never stopping for anything. You emerge on the other side during late evening as sky begins to darken, and the sunset can be seen trickling through the mountain peaks.
As the carriage nears a town, the driver tells the party. "Well, we're coming up on Montdale, last town before Merth. Ye lot gonna sleep in the carriage or the inn? Ya gotta pay fer yer own dinner either way."

Zov: "I'd prefer the inn myself..." (out of character): did we know each other before accepting or are we just now meeting one another?

You got together a few months ago and began looking for jobs. After weeks of clearing basements full of giant rats and promptly being beaten up by roadside bandits and robbed of your rewards, you found this job and took it as a group. You've known each other for just a couple months, but you don't know each other very well, yet.

The Chaon who is sometimes known as Jeriko deigns to speak, a rare occasion, letting his deep, rumbling voice be heard. "This is no destination for me, only a quick stop on the path to death. I will sleep on the ground if need be. Whatever uses the least money is clearly the best option. I would not even be on this carriage if it were not for the slowness of my... companions."

Jeriko: "What need is there for optimism? I see the world as it is, and that is sufficient to me."
